Nurkholis Hidayat, SH., LL.M

Founder and Managing Partner

Nurkholis Hidayat commenced his legal practice in 2004, member of Indonesia Bar Association, founder of Southeast Asia Legal Aid Lawyers (SEALAW) Network, and previously served as a director of the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Jakarta-YLBHI), and National Advisor for Legal Aid and Criminal Justice Reform for the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ). More recently, he serves as a member of CSO representative for the Indonesian Multi-Stakeholder Group of the Extractive International Transparency Initiative (EITI). He also serves as a researcher at the Indonesian Tax Justice Network and Responsibank Coalition.

Nurkholis holds a master of laws from the Melbourne Law School, the University of Melbourne and has a bachelor degree from the University of Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. He is a fellow of Fredkorpset-Norwey South to South Exchange Program in 2008, Fellow of the US -International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) -The Rule of Law Program in 2013, awardee of Australia Award Scholarship in 2015. His area of expertise covers business and human rights, environmental social governance, legal aid, criminal justice and anti-corruption (e.g, tax avoidance and evasion, and illicit financial flows). His views on legal and human rights issues are frequently published in national newspapers.
