Meika Arista is a seasoned legal litigator whose diverse practice on corruption law, corporate law, and indigenous people protection matters.
With more than two years of experience working in the legal sector in Indonesia, Meika has developed a reputation for being criminal law litigator especially on the protection of whistle blower on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of Republic of Indonesia.
Besides, she has well negotiation and mediation skill on non-litigation cases. She also has well litigation skill, include on document and legal drafting, contract drafting, and legal opinion drafting.
In addition, she is also has well experiences on indigenous people protection and recognition litigation. Meika has been companying the struggle of Indigenous Peoples on the Island of Sumba, Indonesia, since 2018 to defend their customary territories from the sugar cane plantation business of PT Muria Sumba Manis. She also a lawyer of the Papuan Indigenous People to defend their land from the mining business of PT Freeport Indonesia.
Meika obtained her graduate law degree from Islamic University of Indonesia as the best graduate with Summa Cumlaude GPA, 4.0. She has winning a prestigious national competition as the first champion on legal drafting of Recoqnition and Protection of Indigenous People Law and best speaker on legal discussion in national level. She had several law and human right-related articles published in domestic and national publications.
